Parlour Productions Returns To Summer Streets For 2014

For a 7th consecutive year Parlour Productions will be spearheading the Skate Initiative for The City Of New York's Summer Streets event series. Free skate rentals and skate instruction will be available to visitors for the first three consecutive Saturdays during the month of August (2nd, 9th & 16th). Event participants get to enjoy the opportunity of skating through NYC's widest and most picturesque roadway, Park Avenue, free of any vehicular traffic for 6.2 wonderful miles. Every year for the last 6 consecutive years we have provided over 3,600 unique outdoor activity experiences to the citizens and visitors of NYC through our custom tailored - NYC Summer Skate Program.

Check out the video from our last year's event series where Parlour Productions' own, Ray Mendez, outlines the activation and shows us just how much fun rolling through the streets of NYC can be.

FASHION & BEAUTY REEL 2014

Parlour Productions is proud to present our 2014 Fashion & Beauty Reel. We've compiled works with the likes of powerful fashion brands and artists such as: Zana Bayne, B.Gold, Roxanne Lowit, Luciana Pampalone, M.A.C. Cosmetics, Goorin Brothers, Details Magazine, Macy's, Rebello Eyewear and Hoodbyair throughout the past year alone. This is a glimpse into some of the magic we created in collaboration with these extraordinary talents/brands.

David LaChapelle "Land Scape" at Paul Kasmin Gallery

Parlour Productions was on hand to capture the unveiling of our good friend and famed photographer David LaChapelle's new exhibition entitled "Land Scape" at the Paul Kasmin Gallery in NYC. The exhibition is comprised of two series: "Refineries" and "Gas Stations". As always LaChapelle pushes the envelope and dazzles us with spectacular imagery, but this body of work is unique in that it touches upon serious real World issues (e.g. disposability & peak oil) while showcasing them in a surrealist setting.

NIKE "NEVER NOT" NYC PREMIERE

The NYC Snowboarding community was out in full force at the premiere of Nike Snowboarding's new 2 part film "Never Not" at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC. Parlour Productions was on hand to capture the evenings activities and the reactions of the attendees. Thanks to the folks of Homage Brooklyn & OvR for all of the support!

On June 24, 2013, W Hotels of New York, in collaboration with STOKED.org present “W Room and Boards”, a charity project inspired by New York City culture. Working with former Pro Action Sports Athlete turned filmmaker Ray Mendez (works include Will.i.am, Lady Gaga, and 50 Cent) have curated five fashion/designers - David LaChapelle, Zana Bayne, Cope2, Amar'e Stoudemire, Cara Delevingne -  to create skateboards inspired by New York’s endless energy and their own personal New York experiences.  Interactive Skateboard Art Displays showcasing the artists' work were provided by NOIZYBrands.com and on display at all of W Hotels of New York locations.

Supporting STOKED.org, W Hotels of New York will offer ‘Room & Boards’ bespoke packages for guests from June to December that will include free skate board rentals and an interactive custom board display to learn more about the designers. The skateboards will also be available for purchase online at whotelsofnewyork.com/wboards. Minimun donation prices start at $500 for originally designed collector’s item boards, and limited edition graphics prints at $50. 100% of proceeds of each purchase will go to further Stoked.org’s work in promoting personal development, academic achievement and healthy living to under-served youth of NYC through action sports culture.

In addition to curating the project, Mendez & his Parlour Productions team (Producer – Jerry Chu & Cinematographer – Andrey Piontkovski) also filmed a series of vignette style documentaries/shorts profiling the contributing artists as well as a music video featuring the group Ninjasonik (Telli Federline & Jah Jah Brown). The music video/promo film focuses on Jah Jah riding the skateboard designed by Cope2 around each of the W Hotels of New York properties and leading his crew on an all-night non-stop party at each of these locales. These unique shorts can be viewed at whotelsnewyork.com/wboards in the “Watch Me” section where viewers can explore the ‘journey’ and inspirations of David LaChapelle, Zana Bayne and more. Says Mendez, "Having been involved in youth culture, action sports & media for the past 20 years the W Room & Boards project embodies all my passions - music, sport, design, film, fashion and the pulse of NYC."
